Students enrolled in Nimitz High School's veterinary science program gain real-world, hands-on experience ranging from learning how to properly groom and prepare animals to proper medical care. Students also have the opportunity to obtain internships with community partners to further their education and experience. Kasandra is one of many students who have taken advantage of this opportunity.
Through this internship, Kasandra is able to learn up close and personal what a veterinary professional's day is like. Whether it's walking dogs, administering vaccinations or providing emotional support, she says it's important for her to be there for her patients at the clinic.

La Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto, Córdoba, Argentina, convocó a la incorporación de las Prácticas Sociocomunitarias (PSC) como parte de la currícula en la Educación Superior. En el marco de esta innovación, se desarrolló la "Práctica Sociocomunitaria como herramienta de articulación con el nivel inicial en la Escuela Jorge Newbery" dentro de la carrera de Ingeniería Agronómica. Esta práctica de aplicación socioeducativa promueve y posibilita la conformación de redes sociales y de comunidades más inclusivas e integradoras como instancias pedagógicas de formación universitaria en contextos solidarios. Los objetivos fueron desarrollar en los estudiantes universitarios actitudes sociocríticas solidarias, en un marco interdisciplinario con actores sociales no pertenecientes a su entorno académico y al mismo tiempo promover en los niños del nivel primario una conciencia ecológica, el consumo de alimentos saludables y productos orgánicos provenientes de la autoproducción de hortalizas. En diferentes encuentros con los niños de la Escuela Jorge Newbery, los alumnos de la carrera de Ingeniería Agronómica desarrollaron ejes temáticos coordinados por un equipo interdisciplinario de docentes y profesionales del Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria. Esta experiencia generó redes de intercambio e instancias enriquecedoras del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje entre alumnos y docentes de distintos niveles.
